The Perils of Self-Love

Many people think self-love is narcissistic, unhealthy, and obsessive. Why? Because when you focus on yourself and fail to appreciate others, you can appear to be self-centered and uncaring of the well-being of others.

On the flip side of the coin, some people fail to think of their own needs and put others first at all times. This can backfire when you begin to fall apart. If you allow this to happen, unfortunately the people in your life may not step up to support you. They may instead, place the blame on you for the predicament that has manifested in your reality.

When you give an inch, people can have a tendency to take a mile, without hesitation.

If you allow it, people will take advantage of your good nature without a clue that you are being drained. If this happens, it is up to you to set boundaries before you are injured in whatever way your energy depletion manifests.

It is vital to recognize that you deserve some me time to refuel before your cup is empty.

Once you put the brakes on, communicate that you are redirecting your energy elsewhere.

It is during times like these when you will need to take a step back, so you can encourage those you love to contribute and support you.

You need to make sure that you don’t lose track of the essential nuts and bolts of what is truly important to you. Take a look deep within to assess what exactly is holding the essence of you together!

So why might you allow others to drain your vital energy in the first place?

This can happen because from the time you were born you may have become conditioned to act selflessly and to think of others first. As a result, you may have begun to believe that you were a bad person if you didn’t sacrifice your own well-being for the sake of others.

This way of thinking can sabotage happiness for all concerned when the person doing the sacrifice falls apart in the name of love! Their good works can backfire on them if they fail to take care of themselves in the process.

I’m not saying to stop what you’re doing and to think only about yourself.

But, what I am saying is for you to seek a healthy balance, otherwise, yes, you will not be appreciated. And…unfortunately, in the end, you’ll get taken advantage of by those you love and care for.

The key is everyone, especially you, needs to set healthy boundaries to teach the people in your life how to treat you.

By doing this, you will teach them how to take care of themselves. You are doing them a favor. Without these boundaries, the people in your life will walk all over you.

If you are unable to demonstrate healthy behaviors, these negative habits will not serve you and the people you care about.

It is vital to develop insight and a healthy intellect, garnered by wisdom to assist you in intelligent decision making, to guide you on your quest toward being kind to yourself.

  • To change your reality, use your mental skills to push through the pain that is crippling you. Doing this will enable you to build healing love energy.

Is it that simple to build healing love energy?


Well yes and no.

  • The energy builds when you have a desire to be of service for the greater good.
  • As a result, the grace you have earned will pull you toward success.
  • Essentially, when you let go and let God take over and you trust in a higher power, the grace of heaven is born.

You are affected by everything you think, say, and do.

The results of your behavior are immediate.

Some believe you can do whatever you desire to become happy if you think your past actions have proven that you’re a good person.

  • You’re fooling yourself, if you think there will be no repercussions for insensitive selfish behaviors. You are not immune.
  • Consequences will be reaped upon you for self-righteous actions done out of fear or thoughtlessness.
  • Be aware and conscientious to prevent a backlash of pain that could be thrust upon you.

​It is crucial to understand the power of intention and how it influences the quality of your life.

  • What you build in life is influenced by the integrity of your character. If your character is virtuous, what you create will have a better chance to weather the storms that crisscross your path.
  • If you build your house on a foundation of sand, it will not fare as well as a house built on a firm rock. The quality of your creations depends upon the level of responsibility you have demonstrated.

Your world will collapse, if the foundation you have created is weak.

Depression, mental breakdowns, and unhappiness can result when you let others carry your burden and force them to take care of you.

  • Your lack of participation in manifesting success sabotages your future, creating an aura of instability and inconsiderate energy that can push others away from you.
  • If you want others to see you as trustworthy, and to feel safe around you, it is recommended that you step up your game and do the work necessary to be a part of the solution and not a part of the problem.

If you stand out as a delinquent, it can be charming at first, but once reality sets in, people can sense a lack of commitment.

This behavior reveals a low level of seriousness, which can be perceived as you being a future burden on society.

To have self-love:
​
  • You must ditch self-sabotaging behavior to reap a healthy self-esteem that blesses you with a sense of deserve-ability.

When you feel deserving of love:

  • You will be open to letting successful people into your life.
  • This can only occur when you feel good about yourself and worthy of their attention and love.

If you are having personal challenges:

  • Identify the areas you need improvement on.
  • Then assess what you can do to remedy the issues that are keeping you from accomplishing your dreams.

For instance:

  • If you are making poor food choices that leave you feeling tired and listless, educate yourself to learn what nutrient dense alternatives can be consumed to raise your quality of life.
  • Changing your diet to a nutrient dense plant based diet will facilitate a positive change to your energy levels throughout the day, enabling you to feel better emotionally.
  • As a result, your overall productivity will improve because of your ability to focus and to think clearly.

Your improved diet will promote the production of feel good chemicals that will flood the body with endorphins. When your cells are flushed with these happy chemicals, you feel good.

As a result:

  • You will feel more inspired to create new and interesting things to do. You will welcome new opportunities to explore and to live your best life now.

When eating fresh organic fruits and vegetables, your cells become flooded with health giving nutrients that assist in the healing process.

  1. Consuming the omega 3 food sources of walnuts, chia, hemp, and flax seeds, assist in supporting your overall health.
  2. It is also recommended to add legumes, which provide fiber, protein, and more.
  3. Also, you can include a wide variety of grains like quinoa, wheat, amaranth, etc.
  4. Herbs, medicinal mushrooms, and fermented foods are great additions to the diet.
  5. There are many superfoods you can use to up-level your energy level with, like maca, ashwaghanda, and moringa. Experiment with the different options, to find out what works for you.
  6. Limit or eliminate sugar, caffeine, and oil to take your energy to the next level.
  7. Soak nuts and seeds to activate the bioavailability of nutrients within, to give your body high quality food sources that will boost your energy.

With an anxiety free energy body, you will feel capable and confident in your abilities to succeed in self-actualizing your higher purpose.

Each step you take on your journey will help you to materialize the many goals on your pathway.

As you take one step, and then another, you will be drawn to that which resonates with what you are all about.

This internal guidance will help you to find your way in life.

If you listen to the still small voice from within, the choices you make will be in alignment with your values.

Whatever you do in life, approach each situation from a place of gratitude and appreciation.

Release all fear then take steps to trust in a higher power to guide you on your journey.

Trust in this power and know that no matter what manifests, all is in Divine right order happening as it should be to teach you what you like and what doesn’t work.

In other words, you will learn what is helpful and not harmful to yourself and others, manifested as what does and does not serve you!

When you realize what you must do and finally do it, you are on your way to experiencing self-love.

You will accept the love, once you can connect at a heart level.

How can this happen?

To connect at a heart level:

  • Have the courage to do the right thing.
  • Let go of your need to control and allow things to happen naturally without manipulating others to fulfill your needs.

When you embody self-love you will exude peace, joy, and love. As a result, others will be drawn to your energy.

To experience self-love:

  • Resist the urge to engage in bad behaviors to reap the rewards of grace.
  • The energy of grace is a blessing of happiness that exudes from every pore of your being.

​You must love yourself and demonstrate healthy behaviors to be loved by others.

🌟 How I Embody True Self-Love to Create a Spiritually Healthy Life

As a spiritual counselor, I’ve learned that self-love is not just about self-care—it’s a sacred frequency. When practiced in alignment with universal love, it harmonizes the heart and mind with the integrity of your being, and opens the path to miracles. But I’ve also seen how distorted self-love can quietly sabotage growth that manifests in a downward spiral of negativity.
 
Here’s how I personally walk the path…that awakens me to my higher self —and how you can too.
 
💠 1. I Choose Humility over Ego

I remind myself daily: I am a unique individualization of the Divine, but so is everyone else. Self-love becomes spiritual when it no longer needs comparison, as we are all each a cell in the body of God.
 
🔮 Virtue Embodied: Humility

🌈 Impact: This opens my energy to unity, and from that space of Oneness, I recognize that we are all brothers and sisters in spirit. Understanding this non-duality, I experience greater peace, flow, and divine support.
 
💠 2. I Stay Spiritually Connected to the Heart of Humanity

While I honor the boundaries of myself and others, I never close off my heart to others. Love isn’t just for some—it’s meant to overflow.
 
🔮 Virtue Embodied: Compassion

🌈 Impact: By staying connected and grateful, I align in a positive way with the collective heart field. My energy becomes magnetic, coherent, and deeply intuitive as a result of the thoughts, words, and deeds I express. I draw to me a reflection of the integrity of each intention held in my consciousness.
 
💠 3. I Honor the Self-Responsibility of Inner Work, Not Just the Affirmations

I’ve learned not to stop at “I am enough”—because love means guiding myself gently to take action, to move into the areas I’ve been afraid to heal.
 
🔮 Virtue Embodied: Courage

🌈 Impact: Having the courage to do what is honorable, deepens my heart-brain coherence. I receive clearer inner guidance, access to higher levels of creativity, and my soul purpose when I let go of fear and take action.
 
💠 4. I Welcome the Wisdom of Divine Mirrors as Teachers    

Feedback, challenges, and even triggers help teach me more about myself and are opportunities for growth. I choose to see them not as threats, but as sacred tools of refinement that assist in the decision making process.
 
🔮 Virtue Embodied: Openness

🌈 Impact: The grace of this receptivity makes my energy field porous to light. My intuition sharpens, and the quantum field responds with new possibilities that support the creation of a wonderful future.
 
💠 5. I Love Without Conditions

True love is inclusive of all and doesn’t exclude anyone. As I love every inch of myself, I consciously extend that same grace to others—even when it’s hard.

🌈 Impact: Unconditional love is the gateway to quantum resonance. When I am in full coherence with the vibration of love, life mirrors it back in divine and unexpected ways that bless me with happiness.
